An unforgettable experience for outdoor and nature lovers! Nuwerust Rest Camp is situated in the Breëkrans river valley, surrounded by majestic southern Cederberg mountains. It is a close 20 minutes drive from the walks and climbs of the Maltese Cross, Wolfberg Arch, Stadsaal Caves and Bushman paintings, the start of the Wupperthal 4x4 drive, Observatory and Cederberg Wine Cellars.
Access
It is advisable to drive the Ceres route and not the N7 Algeria route. The gravel road is only 47km and in a much better condition. Our farm is ideally located for those travelling to the Tanqua Karoo, Wupperthal, Biedouw Valley, Ceres Karoo.
Cottages
Each of our fully equipped S/C cottages has its own bathroom and braai area. Bedding on request.
Camping
42 campsites 22 with power, Wheelchair-friendly ablution blocks with hot water. No music allowed in campsite.
“Nuwerust LAPA” for functions and events
Ideal for weddings, birthday parties, team building or any other event you can think of. The Lapa has a communal braai with bar facilities and DSTV for those important sport events. Lots of ice available at the farm shop.
Activities
Trad- and sport climbing (13 bolted routes), hiking, bird-watching, mountain-biking, rock art, fishing and swimming.
Hiking Trails
All the routes are characterised by rocky terrain and should be tackled with suitable hiking shoes. Maps are available from the office and permits are required for non-residents.
Overnight Hike
is also available to residents for free and non-residents at R50 per person per night. The route is ideal for summer, with river swims, fishing and an overnight under the stars or under a rock overhang.
