Accommodation

1. Keurbosfontein Cottage on Farmyard

This self-catering thatched cottage is the only cottage for visitors on the Keurbosfontein farmyard, a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle usually associated with busy tourism spots. It offers guests a central Cederberg location from which to explore the greater Cederberg.

Keurbosfontein is a historic farm which nestles in the beautiful Red Cederberg. The main farmhouse, which is about 200 years old, was carefully restored, as well as the all the other buildings on the farmstead. Many of the disappearing traditions of the region are still in practice here and the farm has an old world feel. Electricity is not utilized – by choice. Here you find old pear, almond, fig and oak trees, some of which are well over 150 years old. The greater part of the farm’s original water furrow is still in everyday use.

About Cederberg Conservancy

  • The Cederberg Conservancy was constituted in 1997 as a voluntary agreement between landowners to manage the environment in a sustainable manner. It consolidates 22 properties in the central Cederberg as one of the core corridors of the Greater Cederberg Biodiversity Corridor and it is active through quarterly meetings and awareness days.

Visitors to the area can engage in bird watching or easy hikes to the Stadsaal cave and Elephant rock art. For the more adventurous visitor the Conservancy offers Mountain bike trails or overnight hiking trials that vary from one to five nights, depending on your level of fitness and ability.
